Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi convened a meeting of representatives of more than 100 top restaurant brands from the country and abroad at GIFT City on Sunday, inviting them to set up a base at the international fintech city in Gandhinagar and other places in Gujarat.

According to top govt sources, the meeting was held to apprise representatives of top restaurant brands of the support that the state govt will provide in the form of incentives and other benefits.

"Ahmedabad will host international sporting events in the coming years, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and the presence of national and international restaurant brands will boost the overall sporting ecosystem in the state," sources said.

Sanghavi, who also looks after industry and tourism portfolios, said, "The purpose of the meeting was to further facilitate the expansion and development of GIFT City and other tourist and business hubs in Gujarat. We assured them that they will be given all required support. Gujarat is growing at a rapid pace, and good quality restaurants have great business opportunities here."

The deputy CM added that considering the requirements of personnel from abroad as well as from other parts of the country at GIFT City, steps are being taken to ensure that quality international and national cuisine is available at the international fintech city. "The aim is not just to ensure ease of doing business at GIFT City, but also ease of living. We are making efforts to ensure that all top restaurant brands have a presence there," he added.
