The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), Kolkata Chapter, in collaboration with Share Our Strength, concluded the Kolkata edition of its Charity Nutrition Series. The initiative focused on raising awareness and resources to support children’s access to nutrition and education, while highlighting the role of the hospitality industry in social responsibility.

The series aims to encourage private philanthropic participation to complement central and state government programmes addressing child nutrition. Share Our Strength has enabled more than 25 million meals across India through grassroots partners and has co-funded a centralised kitchen with the capacity to serve breakfast to 20 thousand children in Central India. In West Bengal, the organisation currently supports a morning nutrition programme for close to 200 children in Purba Midnapore, with 30 thousand breakfasts served so far and plans for expansion.

Curated by Husna-Tara Prakash and Sid Kothari, along with the NRAI Kolkata Chapter, the event brought together chefs, hospitality leaders, and cultural stakeholders. The evening featured culinary presentations by Chef Asma Khan, Chef Shaun Kenworthy, Chef Auroni Mookerjee, Chef Koyel Roy Nandy, and Chef Avinandan Kundu.

“This evening was a glowing tribute to the cause by five acclaimed chefs. They brought alive the soul of Calcutta with endearing creativity and inspired everyone in the room to do more for the next generation,” said Vir Sanghvi.

Chef Asma Khan said, “This dinner was a celebration of culinary excellence with purpose. I am delighted to be part of a fellowship of chefs and hospitality leaders committed to catalyzing positive change in the lives of children.”

The NRAI Kolkata Chapter said the initiative reflected its continued commitment to supporting causes beyond business through collective industry action.
